Who are we?
We’re a student-led society that works closely with the Department of Computing & Informatics with over 500 members in our Discord Server. Whether you’re into programming, ethical hacking, or anything in between, we’ve got something for everyone! Connect with peers, network with industry pros, and dive into all things computing and security.
BUCSS was first created in 2016 as two seperate societys, The BU Security Society and The BU Computing Society. In 2020 these merged into what we now know as the BU Computing & Security Soceity (BUCSS). Over the years we have had over 30 Committee Members and have worked closely with many different companies in the local area, to provide students with a better unversity experince, by connecting them with industy professionals as well as eachother.
What do we do?
We have hosted events such as the LifeHackathon, where participants collaborate to build innovative projects under time pressure, and code jams that encourage rapid problem-solving and creativity. These events are perfect for showcasing skills and learning through teamwork.
How do I join?
You can join the society for free from our SUBU Page by ‘buying’ a membership, this will sign you up to updates about our upcoming events via your student email (You can opt out at anytime). We would recommend to join our Discord Server to be able to engage with our community of over 500 members and stay up to date with everything todo with BUCSS, it is a great place to share projects and ask for help from other students / the committee.
